Restora of a Silk Altar Front

Textile
The frontal with a beige silk background fabric is finely embroidered with metallic and silk
threads. The thicker metallic embroideries in flat stitch on the padding form rich garlands
from which finely embroidered clusters of roses start in silk. The central niche is decorated with a rich floral bouquet with grape shoots and ears. On the top there is a crown motif, while the bottom frame is made of wood.

The work, which has arrived in an apparently discreet state of conservation, has undergone a restoration process which includes:
- ASPIRATION
- CLEANING of the loom and metal yarns
- DISASSEMBLY
- DUSTING the back of the work
- SMOOTHING of the edges
