Founded in 1851 by Don Augusto De Muller in Tarragona (Spain), this pioneering winery left an indelible mark on the wine industry with its noble and sweet high-quality wines. Throughout its history, it has been recognized by the Catholic Church as the official producer of altar wine, an honor that underscores its excellence and tradition. The winery stood out not only for its commitment to the Catholic Church but also for its generous contributions to the industrial and commercial development of the city of Tarragona, leaving a legacy that lives on to this day. In 1883, during the pontificate of His Holiness Pope Leo XIII, De Muller received the Gold Medal at the Vatican Exhibition, a recognition that marked a milestone in its history. This prestigious award enabled it to become the official supplier of altar wine to the Vatican for six consecutive papacies, solidifying its relationship with the Catholic Church and its worldwide reputation. Over 150 years later, De Muller S.A. continues to maintain the liturgical purity of its superior sweet wine.
