The world's largest statue of Christ

The official inauguration of the world's tallest statue of Christ is scheduled for 2030. The Sagrado Corazón de Jesús de Boadilla, the official name of the new construction, will be built on the outskirts of Madrid and will exceed the statue of Christ the Protector in Encantado, Brazil, by 21 meters. The structure will be approximately 37 meters high and 60 meters wide.

Construction of the project will begin on June 27, 2027. Although the timeline may seem distant and long, it must be said that no time is being wasted. In fact, €17 million has already been raised, of which €1.7 million will go to charity.

A DISTINCTIVE FEATURE OF THE STATUE OF CHRIST

We are referring to a structure whose torso and head will be made of reinforced concrete, while the arms will be made of carbon fiber. Unlike other statues of Christ, this one will have a distinctive architectural feature: it will rise vertically from the torso upwards, without legs. This choice was made by its designers, who wanted to focus on the heart of the statue. Visitors will be able to enter the statue and admire the large heart-shaped tabernacle, with a diameter of 2.5 meters, designed to offer a unique sensory experience.
