
Who was Charles Acutis: his story in short
Charles Acutis was was fiist beatified in 2020 in Assisi. In September he will become the first “millenial saint.” But who was this strong-spirited young man?
Born in 1991, Acutis attended from an early age the schools of the Marcelline Sisters and later those of the Jesuit fathers of the Leo XIII Institute. From his early age he showed a strong Catholic faith. He even started to approach the Eucharist and the Rosary prayer on a daily basis.
Cahrles became a catechist at a young age and at the time he was able to combine two of his greatest passions, computer science and the Eucharist, creating an interesting online exhibition on Eucharistic miracles. However, the young man's active life was suddenly cut short in 2006 by a fulminating leukemia that took him away in just 10 days, at the age of 15. Even today, the video he had recorded shortly before being hospitalized, where he had hinted about the possibility of not surviving the disease, is still very striking. He gave many details about his death, among them: the exact weight of when he would pass away, which was at 70Kg.
BEATIFICATION AND SANCTIFICATION PROCESS OF CARLO ACUTIS
He is now buried in Assisi, by his will and closeness to St. Francis, but his path to beatification started in Oct. 12, 2012. In 2020 he became blessed There are two main healings of which the young millenial is believed to be the author. The first involves a small Brazilian child who, after touching a relic of Acutis, was apparently cured of a congenital anomaly of the pancreas. The second miraculous case concerns a Costa Rican student who was healed of a major head injury after her mother prayed at Charles' tomb.
