Sacred art has always played a meaningful role in the Catholic religion. Among its main functions, this has a mainly commemorative and contemplative role, thus creating a bridge between faith and creativity.

SACRED ART: THE EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Mentioning sacred creativity, until June 9, there will be a monographic exhibition entitled "The Enigma of the Master of St. Francis. The stil novo of the Umbrian 13th Century." It is about an exhibition entirely dedicated to the saint of Assisi, with sixty pieces of art, some of which are borrowed from the world's major museums: from the Louvre in Paris to the Metropolitan Museum in New York to even the National Gallery in London.

This event is meant to celebrate the eighth centenary since the impression of the stigmata on St. Francis, but it is also wants to be an exhibition highlighting both quality and attention to details of the saint's master, whose identity is still unknown to us. Many paintings, sculptures and manuscripts are featured at the exhibition which focuses on St. Francis as alter Christus. The event will last till June 9, 2024.(Un artista senza nome il primo a raffigurare San Francesco, a Perugia mostra sul "Maestro")
