The sport side of priests and nuns

Photo exhibition "Mens sana in corpore sano" by Stefano Guindani: a unique project highlighting the most common passions of men and women of church.
Liturgical vestments and cassocks should not be seen as a limit to one's creativity. The photo exhibition "Mens sana in corpore sano" by Stefano Guindani is a real example of that. On the occasion of the new Leica store in Milan a while ago, the photographer was able to put on display photos of men and women of the church taken in a moment of sport activity. These shots can be strange for someone, while interesting for others.

Starting from the beginning, this project was born just before the lockdown, when Guindani, enchanted by the dynamism of four volleyball nuns, decided to start capturing these passion-filled stories. Talking to the volleyball nuns, he discovered that they had founded a Franciscan women's religious order in Gubbio. Among them there was also a former women's B-series soccer player.

From that encounter, the Cremonese photographer subsequently decided to set out in search of other similar stories. A journey that led him around Italy, from Trentino to Sicily, never forgetting the primary objective of his shots: to capture the involvement of men and women of the church, passions in some ways common, destined to attract other.
